Torrance, CA – April 30, 2025 The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, with Presenting Sponsor UCLA Health and in partnership with Village Runner, invites the community to participate in the 7th Annual Torrance Armed Forces Day 5K for Freedom Run/Walk on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 8:00 AM. The event, beginning at Del Amo Fashion Center (Madrona Ave. entrance between W. Carson St. & Fashion Way), honors Torrance's hometown hero, Louis Zamperini, and commemorates the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary.
“This event is such a fun morning and offers something for everyone,” said Jac Folkert, Area Director, Market Development & Community Engagement, UCLA Health. “Each year, we honor our nation's heroes, and this year, we are proud to recognize the Army. The scenic route through Torrance, wonderful exhibitor booths, and free pancakes at the finish line make this a perfect event for family and friends.”
Participants will run or walk alongside active-duty service members during the "Freedom Run," aspecial segment featuring military units running in formation and calling cadence. First-place male and female finishers will have the honor of riding in Torrance’s 63rd Annual Armed Forces Day Parade, organized by the City of Torrance, starting at 1:30 PM.
“Whether you're 'in it to win it' or just enjoying a morning stroll, the Armed Forces Day 5K is a great way to start your Saturday,” added Folkert. “Join us for post-race food, beverages, giveaways, and your commemorative t-shirt. We look forward to seeing everyone there!”
Registration fees are $40 before May 2 and $45 from May 3 until race day. Dogs and strollers are not permitted.
